Start a cleaning Service

When you sell any type of product, you will more than likely need to keep some sort of inventory. You’ll also need to make sure all your products are suitable to sell. Dealing with products can be a pain, and if you agree with this, you should try a service instead.

So you’re not really into kids and you don’t like being outdoors. Try a cleaning service. Even if you hate cleaning at home, you should try it. It strange, but sometimes cleaning someone else’s home isn’t as bad as your own. Especially if you’re getting paid.

There may be a lot of cleaning services out there already, but you, as an inexperienced teen, have an advantage. You are cheap, or at least your services should be.

A lot of cleaning services are expensive and with good reason because they do a good job. Sometimes people only need help with cleaning a few things. Maybe they have spring cleaning to do, or just need a little extra help.

You can approach a cleaning business from two different ways. Of course, you’ll need to advertise. Set out flyers and spread word of mouth. People you know are going to trust you more with their house than a complete stranger.

First, you can run your business with almost no capital. You can charge a small price if you ask to use their cleaning supplies. They may even prefer you to. Just advertise it as a benefit.

You should charge by the hour, but make sure they are getting the most bang for their buck. If you are charging then $8 an hour, don’t think “$8 an hour? I’ll just take my time and stretch it out over 5 hours!”

No. You should make it take as long as it takes to do a good job and get it done in good time.

If you provide your own supplies, stay well equipped. You’ll need bathroom cleaner, window cleaner, dusting spray, rags, sponges, etc.

It’s important to remember that when you’re in someone else’s home that you keep it in good condition. Of course, that’s why you’re cleaning it, right? Well, you also need to be careful that you don’t knock over breakable things and that you don’t bleach carpets, curtains, or clothes.

When you advertise, you should give them a list of the things you do. This way, they will not be able to force you to do things you don’t feel comfortable doing or that don’t fit your job description. You don’t want to babysitting kids when you expected to wash windows.

When you are paid to clean, you might just find it fun!
